ANOTHER LAZY DAY DURING A HEAT WAVE

Another lazy day. It's nice to be here long enough to just do one thing a day. Today that thing was to go to Museum of Art & Design, MAD. It's a cool place at Columbus circle and the featured show was dioramas and photography. Basically the artists built these dioramas and then either they or someone else photographed them. It should be the picture right above this, but I never quite know where pictures are going to appear on this blog. One of the dioramists exclusively does other artists in their studios. This one is Jackson Pollock. If I were a better reporter, I'd be giving you the names of the people who did these dioramas, but I'd have to have been taking notes, and of course, I didn't. In the photos, it's hard to realize they aren't landscapes or cityscapes or whatever but they aren't. In this particular case the dioramas and the pictures were near each other. I think videos usually show up at the bottom of the blog. They also take forever to upload, but if it actually works, the video is of a video. In this case, the artist filmed from the top of a 10 story building, and used his hands to pretend that he was moving the cars and people around in the picture. After we closed that museum down we went to Greenwich village and went to a cool pizza bar for dinner, then went on to Washington square where we heard a free concert. Unfortunately, we chose to sit a little too far away, and opposite the way the speakers were facing, so we left early as we couldn't hear too well. We did manage to stop at GROM for a gelato before we went home. The cats were starving by the time we got home at 10 pm. One more cool thing here. On their PBS station, they have Doc Martin, which I first saw in LA, but our cheapo KVIE doesn't carry it.
